The Hague has one of the largest international communities in the Netherlands — and padel has become its unofficial social sport. From the sports parks near Scheveningen to the newer centres in Ypenburg, there are more courts than ever. The catch: weekday evenings book out days ahead, and most club websites are in Dutch. This guide gets you on court without the friction.
Where to Play Padel in The Hague
Smash lists close to 80 tennis and padel locations in The Hague, spread across the city and along the coast. Right next door, Rijswijk, Zoetermeer, and Delft add dozens more — often with better peak-hour availability than the city centre.
Browse the full list on our The Hague clubs page and filter for padel to see which clubs take online bookings.
What Does a Court Cost?
Rates vary by club, time of day, and indoor vs. outdoor:
- Off-peak (weekday daytime) slots are the cheapest
- Peak (weekday evenings 18:00–21:00 and weekend mornings) slots cost more and disappear fastest
- You rent per court, not per player — split four ways, it's a cheap night out
Live prices show in the Smash app before you confirm, in English, with online payment. No phone calls in Dutch required.
Beating the Peak Hours
Like everywhere in the Netherlands, Monday to Thursday from 18:00 to 21:00 is the crunch. Three tips:
- Book the moment schedules open — many clubs release availability a week ahead at a fixed time.
- Try shoulder slots (17:00 or 21:30) or hop to a neighbouring town like Rijswijk or Delft.
- Follow your favourite clubs in the app to get notified about cancellations and new availability.
No Membership Needed
Traditional Dutch tennis verenigingen are often member-only, but most padel venues rent courts by the hour to anyone. That makes padel the easiest racket sport to play as an expat: book a slot, pay online, show up. It's also one of the fastest ways to meet people here — most centres run open social events (look for "toss" evenings).
